President's Message
Welcome aboard on the Alliance Cruise Ship! Get ready to embark this year on a fabulous trip around the world. Each month, the general meeting takes you to different ports of call with all the fun games and good times that you typically experience on a cruise ship.
Because of today's stresses and current economic struggles, I feel that we have earned an escape. That is why I chose this theme for the coming Alliance year. Let’s enjoy ourselves while we work together towards our goals. Thanks to our members and volunteers, we build on the successes of previous years. Going ahead, we strive to further programs for the advancement of medical and health education while also supporting related charitable endeavors. Last year, for instance, we donated over $13,000 to support Infant Crisis, Health Alliance for the Uninsured and Schools for Healthy Lifestyles.
The Programs Committee Chairs, our “Cruise Directors” for this year, and I, your “Captain” have been working hard to preparing for our exciting voyage. We’ve been sitting in port all summer long and now its time to get to our destinations.
- Our first stop in September are on the islands of Hawaii. We plan to have games, contests, and good Hawaiian food around the pool.
- In October, our general meeting takes us to the Mediterranean where tastes from many many exotic countries are featured.
- November brings dealers to the “Casino on the High Seas” and bingo games bring you all the luck and fun prizes.
- We will stay close to the North Pole come December where Santa and his elves await us at the Holiday Auction. You don’t want to miss the fun, fellowship, and bidding for some unique Christmas gifts.
- January 2010 is the “On Board Rejuvenation” where a professional trainer advises us on how to care for the body and mind after the holiday season.
- Get ready to “Shake, Rattle, and Roll” in February when we disembark for a field trip to enjoy tour of a private collection of vintage cars and bicycles. We can invite our husbands and sons to enjoy this stop on the cruise.
- March brings us to the end of the voyage around the world. The theme is “Farewell Gala with the Captain”. The last party includes music, dancing, and photo memories of our voyage together.
I hope that you can all join me and the OCMSA Board on the big trip of this year. We cannot bring the ocean to Oklahoma and we will not have a bathing suit contest, be we can promise great and fun times ahead. Remember to bring a friend and help us celebrate even for a day. “A group of friends holding hands can face the ocean and its strong waves better than facing a wave on your own.” So please come and don’t let this Alliance Ship sail without you!
Hope to see you there!
Nina Massad
2009-2010 OCMSA President
